2015 Big Buck Challenge Rules


  1. Big Buck Challenge LLC is the Organizer and Operator of Big Buck Challenge.  Big Buck Challenge LLC is solely responsible for all aspects of the Big Buck Challenge.
  1. Hunters must comply with their respective state DNR regulations.
  1. All references to deer refer to whitetail deer only.
  1. Deer must be taken (rifle, shotgun, muzzle loader or archery) from Saturday Nov. 7 through Sunday Nov. 15, 2015 in Minnesota.
  1. Challenge weigh stations will be open from noon to 8 p.m., Nov. 7 – 8, and 3 - 7 p.m. on Nov. 9 - 15, 2015.  Each deer entered will be marked.
  1. Deer must be field-dressed to Challenge specifications.  All internal organs from where the windpipe adjoins the lungs (above the lungs) to and including the bladder must be completely removed.  Failure to comply will result in immediate disqualification.  The weighmaster will inspect the chest cavity of each deer.
  1. Contestants must be entered into the Challenge by midnight Nov. 6. Checks dated after Nov. 6 or entrants after midnight on Nov. 6 will not be accepted.  Contestants may enter online at usbigbuck.com or purchase tickets at Mills Fleet Farm stores or other official outlets up to midnight Nov. 6.  Incomplete entries and entries not in compliance with these Rules will be void.
  1. Entry fee is $20 per ticket.  Checks must clear for contestants to be entered.
  1. Each contestant may weigh one buck or one doe per ticket.  (One deer per ticket).
  1. Anyone 15 years old or under (from the opening day of their respective seasons) may weigh a deer and be eligible for youth division prizes.  Youths entering the Mills Fleet Farm Youth Division (no charge to enter) do not need a special ticket in advance.  Hunters of any age may enter the Big Buck Challenge by purchasing tickets (see #7).
  1. Weigh station operations will comply with the Big Buck Challenge operating manual and procedures.  Scales will be calibrated to assure 100 percent accuracy.  Scales will be accurate to the .01 of a pound
  1. The weight will be recorded and scorecards completed.  The name on the deer license tag must match the name on the entrant’s ticket.  Weights and photos will be uploaded to the Big Buck Challenge website.
  1. Prizes will be awarded as follows:
    1. Bucks, 200.00 pounds and above;
    2. Bucks, 199.99 pounds to 180.00 pounds;
    3. Bucks, 179.99 pounds to 160.00 pounds;
    4. Bucks, 159.99 pounds and below;
    5. Does, by weight;
    6. Bucks, Youth Division
    7. Does, Youth Division
    8. Drawing, Last Chance Division
  1. Challenge director will use the earliest time/date deer are registered to break ties.  The contestant with the earliest time/date registered will choose which prize they prefer. 
  1. Deer from high-fence enclosures may not be entered.
  1. Any contestant’s efforts to affect (increase or decrease) the overall accuracy of the weight will be cause for disqualification.  Winners must sign a statement that they have followed all contest rules.  A polygraph may be utilized for top winners and by random draw among other prize winners.
  1. Each winning contestant must complete a W-9 form prior to receiving prizes valued over $600.  Contestants winning Rifles or Shotguns must fill out a Firearms Transaction Record (form 4473) prior to receiving a firearm.  Winners must pay applicable sales tax.
  1. All winners under age 18 must have a parent or legal guardian sign a form prior to receiving their prize. (Form will be provided by Big Buck Challenge)
  1. By participating in the Challenge, entrants release, acquit, and forever discharge Big Buck Challenge LLC and Mills Fleet Farm (and their respective affiliates and subsidiaries) and their respective officers, directors, members, employees, agents, successors and assigns volunteer workers, weigh station location (business) employees and owners (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from any and all matter of claims, demands, damages, losses, judgments, liabilities, obligations, actions or causes of action which an entrant and his/her heirs and personal representatives ever had, has, may have, or claim to have against the Released Parties, for, upon, or by reason of any matter, act, or thing related to the Big Buck Challenge.
  1. Prizes may be replaced with items of equal or higher value.
  1. The Last Chance Division will be a drawing for contestants who have entered the contest, weighed a deer at a Big Buck Challenge weigh station, and have not won a prize in the other divisions. 
  1. By entering the Challenge, contestants give their express permission to Big Buck Challenge LLC and Mills Fleet Farm to collect, store, and use any personally identifiable information that contestants provided as part of the Challenge.
  1. Big Buck Challenge LLC may modify, suspend, or terminate the Challenge at any time, and for any reason that it may determine in its sole discretion.  Big Buck Challenge LLC reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any entrant, and remove such entrant’s ticket from the Challenge, who tampers with the entry process or the operation of the Challenge, or causes another to do so, or who acts in violation of these Rules or any applicable law or regulation.
  1. By entering the Challenge, contestants agree to be bound by the decisions of the judges and the terms set forth within these Rules.
  1. Each contestant purchasing a ticket is also granting permission to Big Buck Challenge to use photos, video, images, testimonials, etc., of the ticket holder in media and related publicity materials.
